TK Massimo
My day job took me to the City and after a morning of extreme hard work, a lunchtime visit to TKs on Lovat Lane.
Paul Hacker took me so I figured we might be there all afternoon.
Focussing as I do, on the wine, we ordered a Chianti Classico Castello D’Oro 2005 Villa di Vetrice at £20.50. I found it at www.everywine.co.uk for £90.25 per case so I make the mark-up about 170% which sounds a lot but for a low cost wine like this a mark-up of about £13 is reasonable especially with City rents.
The wine was described as having “Vibrant fruit flavours with a hint of spice, wood smoke flavours and concentration of plum lead to soft, well rounded tannins and a long finish“. Personally I got smooth black cherries. Very nice though!
The Linguine al Frutti di Mare was another dish of pasta with pointless molluscs perfectly cooked and delicious. Even though it was lunchtime I followed up with some cheese while Paul munched his way through a Tiramisu and kept most of it off his shirt.
Charming place, with warm attentive Italian staff. Did they pass the Macchiato test? Oh yes – another fine Italian coffee. Oh well back to the train and another few hours work!
